Michael Morelius serves as the Executive Director of the Virginia Community Healthcare Foundation (VCHF), whose mission is to advance the ideals of quality and affordability in healthcare services and health equity through its partnership with the Virginia Community Healthcare Association (VCHA) and with essential funding from philanthropic individuals, corporations, and other sources.
Morelius brings more than two decades of experience in the philanthropic sector, distinguished by a proven track record of success in fundraising and a deep passion for social impact. His philanthropic journey began as a direct beneficiary of others’ generosity, shaping a long and impactful career in development across multiple sectors and states.
Prior to his current role, Morelius served as Associate Vice President for Development at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he managed several individual philanthropic projects. He also served as the Director of Development for Texas A&M University, consistently exceeding fundraising goals and developing innovative strategies to secure critical funding.
A creative problem-solver, Morelius has a proven ability to connect with donors and ignite their passion for giving. He is an alumnus of Delta Chi Fraternity and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with minors in History and Chemistry from Texas A&M University.
