As part of VCHA’s continued advocacy on behalf of Medicaid funding, we hosted a virtual fly-in to Congress on May 13 and 14.
Across those days, we were able to schedule and hold meetings with five key legislators or their staff. These included:
Rep. Wittman – VA-01
Capital Area Health Network, Central Virginia Health Services, Olde Towne Medical and Dental Center
Rep. Kiggans – VA-02
Eastern Shore Rural Health System, Horizon Health Services, Southeastern Virginia Health System
Rep. McClellan – VA-04
Capital Area Health Network, Central Virginia Health Services, Daily Planet, Horizon Health Services, Southern Dominion Health System, Stony Creek CHC
Rep. Cline – VA-06
Healthy Community Health Centers, Highland Medical Center, New Horizons Healthcare, Rockbridge Area Health Center, Shenandoah Community Health
Rep. Griffith – VA-09
Bland County Medical Clinic, Clinch River Health Services, CHC of the New River Valley, Connect, Johnson Health Center, Monroe Health Center, Piedmont Access to Health Services (PATHS), Rockbridge Area Health Center, Southwest Virginia Community Health Systems, Stone Mountain Health Services, Tri-Area Community Health
In each of these virtual fly-in meetings, we discussed the broad impacts that Medicaid has across their districts and highlighted how proposed work requirements would create serious barriers for access—especially for part-time, seasonal workers, and caregivers. We were also able to present patient stories from their respective constituents that helped illustrate the real human impact of these potential policy changes.

Thank you to everyone who attended a virtual fly-in meeting, shared their story, or spoke on behalf of Medicaid. Your stories matter and sharing them makes a difference. Thank you for joining the fight to protect Medicaid!
