Every year, tens of thousands of Virginians have children, making maternal health a top focus for Virginia healthcare providers.
According to the Heath Resources and Services Administration, pregnancy-related mortality has not improved over the past decade, four out of five pregnancy-related deaths are considered preventable, and more than 25,000 women experience unintended outcomes of labor and delivery that result in significant short- or long-term health consequences. Understanding and improving maternal health outcomes is a key priority for healthcare providers in Virginia and beyond.
