HENRICO, Va. – The American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Medical Association recently recognized several VCHA member health centers for their efforts to prioritize control of their patients’ blood pressure (BP).
In Greater Richmond and the Tri-Cities alone, 229,968 adults are living with high blood pressure, according to 2023 statistics from the AHA. That’s enough to fill 5,000 city buses!
Eight VCHA member health centers were recognized for their participation in AHA’s Target: BP and Target: Type 2 Diabetes program and their commitment to achieving better blood pressure control in their communities.
TARGET: BP | GOLD+ LEVEL: Awarded to practices recognized for demonstrating a commitment to measurement accuracy and having 70 percent or more of their adult patient population with high BP controlled.
